POSTHUMOUS Streaming Surges/Limited Edition Release

Bowie reaches a billion streams on Spotify.
2016 was a big year for deaths in the music industry, including Prince, George Michael and Leonard Cohen.
David Bowie has snagged another posthumous milestone. The late, great British artist’s catalogue has surged past 1 billion streams on Spotify. The Thin White Duke’s music reached the benchmark last Thursday (Aug. 24) with his 1977 classic "Heroes" leading the way as his most-streamed solo track of all time on the subscription platform. Bowie's works have crashed through a cluster of barriers since his death. His final album, Blackstar, was a global hit and debuted at the top on the Billboard 200 chart in January 2016, giving the late music legend his first No. 1 album in the U.S.. The Hall of Famer died on Jan. 10 of cancer, two days after its release.

A whole disc set just for a single?
Bowie’s streaming standout “Heroes", originally recorded in English, French and German, is this year celebrating its 40th anniversary and will enjoy a special limited edition picture disc release next month.

A collection of albums and singles released over five years from 1977-1982 (reference to the opening track of his breakthrough album Ziggy, used also in two documentaries) priced at £100!!
Also, the latest in a series of career-spanning box sets, A New Career in a New Town, which covers the years 1977-1982, is due out Sept. 29.
